Orphanage for Street Children
We started supporting orphans and other vulnerable street children in Babati in 2009. Initially, we helped a few children and gradually included more as we raised money and gathered material support to provide them with basic needs (food, housing, clothing, and education).

We established our orphan center in Ihumwa, Dodoma region, which can accommodate at least 20 children at a time.
Widows Support
We are supporting widows due to causes such as complications at birth, HIV/AIDS, suicide, abandonment, and more. We assist these widows by providing parenting training and allowing them ample time to build bonds with the children. Additionally, we encourage them to become self-employed through entrepreneurship. Tumaini Foundation works daily to find ways to support them financially, through training, material support, and other means.

In our fight against poverty, we have helped these widows turn their passions into businesses. They now produce a variety of handmade products, such as clay flower pots, tailored items, flower arrangements, fresh juices, and porridge. This entrepreneurial approach has enabled them to earn a living from their sales each day.
Education (Day Care, Nursery and Local School)
One of the most important pillars of our foundation is education, as it is the basis on which the future of a society is built. Our work goes from the orphanage, with the youngest children, to the local school in Ihumwa, where we make regular visits to work with the children in different aspects.

We have teachers and social workers to support the different situations that arise, as it is not always easy to guarantee schooling. We ensure the children have equal education, particularly on English, Mathematics which is fundamental skills to their future success.

This is an indispensable tool for the future and development of our community, so we try to support all ages and situations, including children with disabilities.
Children with Special Needs
Children with disabilities are more vulnerable than others. We are removing the stigma in the community whom reject these children as they believe disability are symbols of bad luck and misfortune. We believe that these children are capable in different ways.
We support disabled children by providing health insurance, housing, facilities such as wheelchairs, food, and education. Currently, we have created Special Ed Class in support at least 10 children in 2 schools, ensuring they experience love and care.
Education on Sustainable Farming
Based on our plan to feed the children a balanced diet, we have developed farming lands that operate using organic principles. The purpose is to ensure health stability and protect the soil from losing its fertility for the benefit of future generations.

Additionally, we help teach community members who are interested in organic farming by using demonstration farm plots. We use a small garden in our backyard to train and work with foster families to cultivate vegetables organically.
We also host seminars in local schools and organize plantation days to raise awareness in the community about the importance of sustainable farming. In areas where land is scarce, communities have learned to recycle bags by planting vegetables in them.
Family Reunification
We receive referrals of families with children from the children themselves, government authorities, and local community where the children are struggling to have basic care.

Once we identify these families, we initiate a project to understand their situation and facilitate the improvement of their welfare.
Most of these families are very poor and lack basic needs, which often leads children to run away from home. We assist by starting an entrepreneurship program with them if that’s their desire, aiming to build the family's capacity to solve its own problems permanently, rather than making them dependent on charity. Family members are helped to start small businesses so that they can maintain long-term assets and love their own children.
